Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) for Cellobration Event
1 Do I have to participate in the competition if I register for the Cellobration?
No, participation in the competition is entirely optional. The primary focus of the Cellobration is to provide opportunities for learning, enjoyment, and celebration of the cello. The competition is just one of the many activities available to you during the weekend. You are welcome to choose whether or not to participate based on your preferences and interests.
2. Can I participate in the competition only?
Yes, you can, but registration for the full event is still required.
3. Do I have to participate in all events of the Cellobration?
No, participation in any of the events is optional. It’s entirely up to you how much you want to engage with the event.
4. How do I register for a masterclass?
You can express your interest in participating in a masterclass by indicating your preference on the registration form. Please note that we can guarantee a spot for the first 30 participants who wish to attend a masterclass. If you’re not among the initial 30, you will be placed on a waiting list in the order of registration.
5. Can I attend as a spectator?
All events are primarily designed for participants. However, certain events, such as guest artist recitals, may have tickets available for the general public. Furthermore, parents and guardians of underage participants will be granted free entrance.
6. What are the event timings for the Cellobration?
The Cellobration starts with an orientation on Friday, the 10th, at 9:00 AM, including cello choir rehearsals and sectionals for early arrivals. A second orientation session for latecomers will be held at 11:30 AM. The main masterclasses, lectures, and full rehearsals begin at noon on Friday. If you’re competing, the preliminary rounds start on Friday with a separate schedule, and competitors will receive their assigned times upon registration. All events will conclude by 2:00 PM on Sunday, the 12th, to accommodate out-of-state participants returning home. Additional post-event activities are available for those staying later on Sunday.
7. I am a teacher bringing my cello studio; do I need to register?
No, you do not need to register. We extend a complimentary invitation to cello professors and orchestra directors who are accompanying students. We also offer a teacher lounge where you can relax and network with fellow educators.
8. Can I advertise my cello studio, university program, or business at the event?
Absolutely! We encourage you to promote your cello studio, university program, or business. Please reach out to us at alabamacellosociety@gmail.com to discuss advertising opportunities.
